Volleyball Postgame: Cinco Ranch 3, Katy 0
No. 16 state-ranked Cougars improve to 17-5 overall with sweep of Tigers
It wasn’t pretty, and more than a few moments left coach Danielle Wells perturbed, but Cinco Ranch’s state-ranked volleyball team got what it came to get at Katy High on Tuesday.
The No. 16 Cougars swept the Tigers 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-19) to improve to 17-5 overall, 2-0 in District 19-6A. Sloppy play, particularly in serve-receive, marred the result, but Cinco Ranch continues to roll as it works to mix in a new outside hitter and middle blockers to a team that was a state finalist last season.
The Cougars have dropped one set since Aug. 17, and overall have won 41 sets to 12 lost.
After the win, seniors Kassidy O’Brien and Gabriella Martinez discussed the team’s season so far, including mixing in new talent while adhering to a championship standard established by last season’s phenomenal playoff run.
